2015 GIST Educational Conference and Luncheon

On April 21st, 2015, the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and the GIST Cancer Research Fund hosted the Annual GIST Educational Conference, which provided an opportunity for Dr. Chris Corless, Dr. Michael Heinrich, Ms. Caroline Macuiba, and Dr. Brian Druker to speak to patients and their families about some of the advancements made in GIST cancer research during the last year.  In addition to gaining insight and information about this horrible disease, this event is a chance to reconnect with familiar faces and share in our hope for a cure.  The GCRF also presented us with a generous donation of $100,000 for continuing research.  We could not be more thankful for their amazing fundraising efforts.  Our motivation to find a cure is more enthusiastic than ever before.

On Wednesday, May 14th, we welcomed GIST patients and their supporters for the Annual GCRF Breakfast and Meeting at OHSU.  This is our favorite event of the year, as it provides us with the opportunity to gather with patients and discuss our latest research endeavors. As a result of their enthusiastic fundraising efforts, the GCRF presented Dr. Heinrich and Dr. Corless with an outstanding donation of $100,000 this year.  We are so privileged to be included among the beneficiaries of this amazing organization and with their generous support, we can continue to work to find a cure for GIST.

2013 GIST Cancer Research Fund “Walk for the Cure” Events

photo-20-2

On Sunday, October 6th, Dr. Chris Corless attended the 2013 GIST Cancer Research Fund New York Walk for the Cure. Despite the damp weather, there were plenty of attendees and Dr. Corless was pleased to have the opportunity to catch up with many friends.  All of the funds raised from these events go directly to GIST research with the hope of finding a cure.

Additionally, Dr. Michael Heinrich participated in the GCRF Walk for the Cure in San Jose, California, on October 20th.  This annual fundraising event was originally organized by Irene Wing and it is in her memory that the participants gathered in an effort to eradicate this devastating disease.

On Wednesday, May 15th, 2013, we enthusiastically reunited with patients and supporters of the GIST Cancer Research Fund for our Annual GIST Breakfast meeting at OHSU.  Dr. Heinrich, Dr. Corless, and our lab personnel look forward to this gathering every year, as it gives us a chance to see familiar faces and share the excitement of our latest GIST research efforts.  This year, the GCRF presented us with an incredibly generous donation of $125,000.  We feel honored to be included among the beneficiaries of their tireless fundraising efforts and, with their outstanding support, we can continue to strive to find a cure for GIST cancer.

2012 Annual GCRF Grant Presentation Breakfast

On May 16h, the GIST Cancer Research Fund presented a generous donation in the amount of $120,000 to the Heinrich-Corless Research Lab at the Annual GCRF Grant Presentation Breakfast at OHSU. This extraordinary gift is the result of the endless fundraising efforts of the GCRF and oustanding donations to their organization.
Without this support, we would not be able to continue our research to help find
a cure for this terrible disease.
